Virat Kohli wicket most important of my life: Himanshu Sangwan relishing Ranji Trophy dismissal

Himanshu Sangwan, a 29-year-old pacer from Railways, has become the toast of Indian cricket fans after claiming what he calls the most important wicket of his career—dismissing none other than Virat Kohli. The much-anticipated return of Kohli to the Ranji Trophy after nearly 13 years became the talk of the cricketing world. However, his comeback was cut short as Sangwan clean-bowled the Indian maestro for just 6 runs during the Delhi vs Railways clash at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

The atmosphere at the stadium, which had been electric with chants of “Kohli, Kohli,” turned to stunned silence when Sangwan shattered Kohli’s stumps. The dismissal marked a significant moment, not only for the game but also for Sangwan’s career. Speaking after Day 2’s play, Sangwan reflected on the wicket, describing it as the most memorable moment of his cricketing journey.

Delhi vs Railways, Ranji Trophy: Live Updates

“It is the most important wicket of my life. It goes without saying. Virat Kohli is an inspiration to the whole country,” “First time in life I saw so many people turning up for a Ranji Trophy game. It was special for all of us,” Himanshu said.

“We did not plan for one particular batter. The majority of the Delhi batters like to attack so our plan was stick to channel bowling and draw the outside edge,” he added.

Fans who had gathered in droves to watch Kohli soon started leaving the stadium after his early departure. The spotlight, however, shifted firmly onto Sangwan, whose name began trending across cricket discussions and internet searches.

At that stage, Delhi was left reeling at 86/3, trailing Railways by 155 runs. However, captain Ayush Badoni’s valiant 99-run knock and Sumit Mathur’s impressive 86 helped Delhi recover, as they were eventually bowled out for 374, securing a 133-run lead. Despite the early setback, Kohli will have another chance to make his mark in Delhi’s second innings.

The pressure is mounting on Kohli, with fans and selectors eagerly anticipating a strong performance in what has been a rare domestic appearance for the Indian stalwart. As for Sangwan, the historic wicket has catapulted him into the limelight, with many now watching his career with newfound interest.
