Steve Smith becomes fourth Australian to reach 10,000 Test runs during SL vs AUS 1st Test

On Wednesday, Steve Smith became the fourth Australian batter to reach the milestone of 10,000 runs in Test cricket during day one of the first Test against Sri Lanka at the Galle International Stadium.

Smith has joined Allan Border, Steve Waugh, and Ricky Ponting. He achieved the milestone in his 115th Test, with only Brian Lara reaching it in fewer matches.

Among active players, Smith now ranks second behind Joe Root, who has 12,972 Test runs.

Smith had been stranded on 9999 runs following his dismissal in Sydney during the fifth and final Test against India.

Smith currently has 34 Test hundreds and 41 fifties.
