Virat Kohli’s doppelganger attends his Ranji Trophy return against Railways in Delhi

Star India batter Virat Kohli’s doppelganger was spotted attending his comeback game in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 amongst his several fans at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Kohli marked his comeback to India’s premier domestic first class competition after over 12 years as he featured in Delhi’s seventh round match of the tournament against Railways.

As the India star returned to play in his hometown, a massive crowd gathered outside the stadium to get a chance to watch the local boy play. People from all age groups thronged to the venue with school children, working professionals and local shop owners all in attendance to cheer for Kohli.

Among Kohli’s several fans, one particular guy caught everyone’s attention for his uncanny resemblance to the batting stalwart. The fan was seen sporting a full-fledged beard like the former India captain and was also wearing similar shades as Kohli. His presence outside the venue sparked a strong reaction from other fans who came rushing in to click photographs with Kohli’s look-alike.

Kohli gets a rousing reception on Day 1

Earlier on Day 1 of the match, Kohli received a warm welcome at his home ground as fans began queuing up outside the stadium as early as 4 am to watch their favourite star. As the starting time of the match approached, fans began growing in numbers with chants of ‘Kohli-Kohli’ being heard all around the venue.

The massive influx of the crowd also created a ruckus at the entry gate as constant pushing by the fans in a bid to enter the stadium, led to a stampede-like situation where a few people also got injured. However, the situation was brought under control by the security personnel quickly.

As the fans filled the stands of the stadium, they began chanting for Kohli at the top of their voices, who also played around with the crowd with his fun gestures. A fan even breached the security and rushed to the pitch to touch Kohli’s feet before being taken away by the ground security. Meanwhile, after not being able to watch Kohli bat on Day 1 after Delhi captain Ayush Badoni won the toss and opted to bowl first, fans are eagerly waiting to watch him weave his magic with the willow on Day 2 in Delhi’s 1st innings.
