Usman Khawaja hits first double hundred in first Test against Sri Lanka

Aussie opener Usman Khawaja struck his maiden double hundred in Test cricket on day two of the first Test against Sri Lanka at Galle.

He got there with a single off Prabath Jayasuriya. He is the first Australian to score a double century in Asia since Jason Gillespie’s 201 against Bangladesh.

Before him, only a handful of Australians had achieved this feat: Matthew Hayden (201* vs. India in Chennai, 2001), Dean Jones (210 vs. India in the iconic 1986 Madras tied Test), Greg Chappell (235 vs. Pakistan in Faisalabad, 1980), and Mark Taylor (334* vs. Pakistan in Peshawar, 1998).
