New Zealand’s Amelia Kerr named ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year 2024

New Zealand all-rounder Amelia Kerr was named the ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year 2024, beating Laura Wolvaardt, Chamari Athapaththu and Annabel Sutherland to the honour.

Kerr is the first New Zealander to win the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, first awarded in 2017, and also the first Kiwi to win the overall ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year award.

The 24-year-old was named the Player of the Tournament at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 and also bagged the Player of the Match award in the final against South Africa as New Zealand lifted its maiden title.

Kerr stood out in the T20I format, scoring 387 runs with the bat and picking 29 wickets in 18 matches in 2024. She picked 15 wickets during the T20 World Cup – the most by any bowler in a single edition of the tournament.

In the nine One-Day Internationals that she played in 2024, Kerr scored 264 runs at an average of 33 while also taking 14 wickets.
