‘Ice cool’ MS Dhoni all ready to support India in Champions Trophy 2025

Former India captain MS Dhoni is all ready to support India in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025 as he featured in a fun promo for the tournament. The cricketing extravaganza is all set to begin from February 19 and is scheduled to be jointly hosted by Pakistan and UAE. With just over 20 days left in the tournament, Dhoni featured in a promo for the event exhibiting his cool and calm demeanour.

In the video, Dhoni mentioned that it was easier as a captain to remain cool, but it isn’t as easy being a fan. The 2013 Champions Trophy winner also spoke about the intense competition of the tournament, as even a single loss can knock the team out of the tournament. Hence, the legendary captain was seen using ‘Dhoni Refrigeration System’ to keep himself cool for the upcoming event.

“When I was the captain, it was easy to remain cool but it won’t be easy to watch Champions Trophy as a fan. Our team might be strong but if we lose one game, then we’re almost out of the tournament. The temperature has risen so much due to constant tension,” said Dhoni in the promo shared by Star Sports.

India to start their campaign vs Bangladesh on February 20

Dhoni led India in two editions of the Champions Trophy, in 2009 and 2013 respectively. Under his leadership, a young team India emerged victorious in the 2013 remaining unbeaten throughout the tournament, winning five games in a row. Ahead of the tournament, captain Dhoni made the bold call of going with a young side as veterans such as Virender Sehwag, Zaheer Khan and Gautam Gambhir were not selected in the squad.

The move worked wonders as the Men in Blue dominated all oppositions as players stepped up with both bat and ball. After winning the 2013 edition, India reached the final of the next edition of the event as well in 2017, where they faced Pakistan. However, they were hammered by 180 runs in the summit clash as Pakistan won their maiden Champions Trophy title. Hence, the Men in Blue will be eager to avenge their 2017 loss against the current hosts of the tournament as they begin their campaign on February 20 against Bangladesh. They will later face Pakistan on February 23 in Dubai.
