Chaos ensues outside Arun Jaitely Stadium due to massive crowd

Fans began queuing up outside the Arun Jaitely Stadium as early as 4 am, as a long 2km line full of people could be seen at the entry gates. Initially, only three gates were scheduled to be opened for the fans. However, seeing a massive influx of crowd, the DDCA (Delhi & District Cricket Association) decided to open an additional gate as well.

It even became difficult for the security personnel to control the lively crowd at the venue as fans began pushing each other in a bid to enter the stadium quickly. The commotion even led to a couple of fans falling near the entry gate and getting injured. A police bike was also damaged and several people left behind their shoes while trying to escape from the uncontrolled swarm of people.

The chaotic incident left at least three people injured. Meanwhile, Railways didn’t get off to a good start after being put in to bat first, losing the first three wickets with just 21 runs on the board.
