Mohammed Salah nets brace in Liverpool’s win over Bournemouth, Notingham Forest score 7 vs Brighton

The Premier League delivered exhilarating action on February 1, with Mohamed Salah stealing the spotlight once again. The Egyptian maestro scored twice to propel Liverpool to victory against Bournemouth, extending their lead at the top of the table to nine points. Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest put on a spectacular show, hammering Brighton 7-0 in a goal-fest.

Liverpool, under Arne Slot, have been in imperious form across all competitions, and their latest triumph takes them to 56 points, firmly ahead of Arsenal (47 points). Salah’s brace not only guided his team to victory but also saw him surpass Chelsea legend Frank Lampard to become the sixth-highest goalscorer in Premier League history. However, the Reds were dealt a significant blow as star right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold limped off with a muscle injury, casting doubt over his availability for the crucial Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Tottenham Hotspur.

Nottingham Forest, on the other hand, produced one of their most dominant performances in recent memory, humiliating Brighton with a 7-0 thrashing. Chris Wood stole the show with a sensational hat-trick, while Anthony Elanga dazzled with a hat-trick of assists. The scoring began with an own goal from Brighton captain Lewis Dunk, setting the tone for a ruthless display from Forest. They added two more before half-time before running riot in the second half, netting four more. Under Nuno Esprito Santo, Forest’s resurgence continues as they climb the table with renewed confidence.

Elsewhere, Wolves secured a 2-0 victory over Aston Villa, with Matheus Cunha sealing the win in stoppage time after Jean Ricner-Bellegarde’s opener. Meanwhile, Newcastle United suffered a damaging 2-1 defeat to Fulham, dealing a blow to their top-four aspirations. Everton, struggling at the bottom half of the table, found some much-needed respite with a resounding 4-0 win over relegation-threatened Leicester City.

With Liverpool extending their dominance and Nottingham Forest making headlines, the Premier League title race and battle for survival continue to intensify.
